When the mines closed in cornwall, there was no bailout package, no
enticements for foreign companies to invest, just some cheap courses
in how to use word and excel.

Ah but hang on lets not be forgetting that it was a few union men like
"Arfer" Scargill that actually did the damage to big industry in this
country. He spent so many years winding up the government of the day, it
made no sense to base our power needs on them going forward. Idiots like him
made it more advantageous to dump a whole history and buy the goods somewere
else meanwhile he took a nice pension and retired a comfortable man (more
than could be said for most of the men that were silly enought to stand
behind him and destroy their future...

By the time he had finished fighting a losing battle there was no need to be
nice to them The country was p1ssed off and we really didn't care what
happened to the losing side...

New Labour could not give a toss about normal people because at the end of
the day less than half of a third of the country could be bothered to vote
for them... So a choice between big businesses who turn up, play the game
and make massive party donations to keep the gravy train running for a bunch
of ponces with crap degrees at millbank Vs Dot & Burt on a council estate in
the depths of god knows where I wonder who Labour really work for?

I choose right wing Conservatism Norman Tebbit stylee! At least you knew
where you stand with him :)

Now we have a company that's investing in getting the last working

Now this I agree with whats the point of building call centers that are
manned better from Bombay? But to be honest If they tried to save the mine
they would only end up with swampy and his smelly mates down there trying to
save the world...
