Hi All,

Just to throw more petrol onto the fire........................The BT /
Blueyonder debate:

We use Blueyonder, and also enable office networks over it, without any real
problems, yes about once a quarter we lose connectivity for a few hours, but
the technical help is good and if you don't want any downtime spend £5000.00
and get a leased line with a SLA.

We also enable office networks over the BT ADSL offering too, the Business
500( and +) / 1000 / 2000. We haven't had any problems to date.
Connect first time, leave it, it stays connected! Should it drop out, set it
to reconnect on line failure! Clients have had some reduction in bandwidth
due to contention in some exchange areas at peak times, but hey, that's all
the client paid for.

If you have a business critical operation get a business critical service
such as leased line. 'Ah, but it's so expensive'...yes, that's because a lot
more goes into keeping it running and the SLA (Service Level Agreement).
Let's also remember that Blueyonder and BT ADSL are contended services.
Should we really be surprised when we don't get the entire bandwidth.....I
think not, they both make it clear it's a contended service they offer.

What I'm trying to say is this:

We use both without any real problems.
We are aware of the limitations.
We are aware of the market at which they are targeted.
They are part of a network service.
Consider the fact it may be 'your end' that's creating the problems.

If you have problems, let Telewest / BT know, finally.......vote with your
feet, if your with BT go to Telewest, if your with Telewest, go to BT. Yes,
it's a 12 month contract, tell them you'll scream and scream and scream,
until your sick! If neither work for you, go to dial up......or a leased
line.

Concentrate now here comes the science and sales part:
<blantant plug>
We recommend to our clients they use BT/Telewest as the transport, after all
they are Telco's. Then use us to provide the Web/Email/Design etc, after all
we are internet solution providers. Horses for courses.
We can offer advice to those looking to move to broadband, and implement all
that is required, such as firewalls, routing etc.
