>The entire service _I've_ been getting is shite. That much is correct
=)

That much I'd never disagree with based on what you've said!
Personally I never use their mail accounts, usenet servers or free web
space so I have no idea how reliable they are. SMTP sending is okay
though, I know a few Telewest people who were having attachments
lopped-off for no reason and mails clogging up recently.

The

help, though.

Their support people don't know their asses from their USB ports though,
unless you are extremely lucky one day and just happen to get the guy in
the dept. that "has a clue" and more importantly knows the people to
talk to internally to get it sorted.

>Incidentally, AFAICT, BT may be informally relaxing their ban on users
changing their HG.

Well if it's any help I'm on 15 and have no intention of moving.

>Bit of a turnaround from "sorry but this is FUD" =)

Well your original post was mostly :) No facts, pure user-level
experience that totally contradicted mine but made it sound like I was
talking arse because I said my experience was okay!

>I hope Sam can make an informed decision based on two quite different
experiences.

She's probably reinstalling her modem :)
